Someday 04:32
I was 16 when I saw your face Knew that I would find my way To your side, your side someday Baby say you’ll stay with me You were 15 when I caught your eye That early evening in July You watched me fight to hold your hand You always knew I’d be your man Let’s run, run away They don’t understand Give me your hand Let’s leave today Forget the world We’ll be a boy and a girl in love They don’t get it, we’ll leave them behind I’m alright today just knowing you’re mine Cause you say we’ll find our way Someday Now I’m 18, future on my mind So much to do, so little time You say you’ll love me all my life Baby you’re my only light Let’s run, run away They don’t understand Give me your hand Let’s leave today Forget the world We’ll be a boy and a girl in love They don’t get it, we’ll leave them behind I’m alright today just knowing you’re mine Cause you say we’ll find our way Someday I’m running and running Forgetting how to breathe I’m falling and falling Losing who I want to be You catch me and hold me And I don’t want to leave And when everything is wrong I hear you say to me Let’s run, run away They don’t understand Give me your hand Let’s leave today Forget the world We’ll be a boy and a girl in love They don’t get it, we’ll leave them behind I’m alright today just knowing you’re mine Cause you say we’ll find our way Someday

I was born by man but raised by melody Something mom and dad can’t trust Because it’s something they can’t see And all I’m meant to be they didn’t want for me Drywall boxed me up until I’d had enough And all these lines they forced on me I’m finding my way through I’m doing everything I can And I swear I’ll get there soon I’m done waiting on my rocket to come I think it’s time that I found my own way up And I can’t wait to feel the stratosphere Sweet air in my lungs Cause once I breathe it in you know I’ll never come back down I’m a boy with a bad sense of direction And I hate doing what I’m told I’m a man who can see his destination And all this traffic’s getting old And all these lines they forced on me I’m finding my way through I’m doing everything I can And I swear I’ll get there soon I’m done waiting on my rocket to come I think it’s time that I found my own way up And I can’t wait to feel the stratosphere Sweet air in my lungs Cause once I breathe it in you know I’ll never come back down They said you’ll never make it Find a fall back Hang up your numbers, boy They’ll never call back And I was waiting on one chance To get my upper hand To make them understand Cuz I’m done waiting on my rocket to come I think it’s time that I found my own way up And I can’t wait to feel the stratosphere Sweet air in my lungs Cause once I breathe it in you know I’ll never come back down

I close the door And I pull away Into the streetlight You have your back to the wall We both take the fall From our own little world Let’s go dancing on 17th And I’ll hold you close to me As I twirl you around Take a look over town And watch all the lights go out I feel so small Under your eyes and the stars All watching me, watching me Your head’s on my chest Our rhythm’s not the best But I never wanna leave Let’s go dancing on 17th And I’ll hold you close to me As I twirl you around Take a look over town And watch all the lights go out I was alone Till I spent my nights With you and the phone Well I know some days you can’t call But I want your voice all day long This is all your fault Let’s go dancing on 17th And I’ll hold you close to me As I twirl you around Take a look over town And watch all the lights go out
4.
Clouds roll in and the sun goes out The voice in my head is shouting out loud On my darkest day you came along And brightened up my lonely song And when the world gets tough What we have’s enough All my life I searched for words Now they’re more trouble than they’re worth So I settle for the melodies That say I love you just for loving me When we don’t got light to find the shore And you think you’re gonna quit, please don’t Cause Wherever I go Wherever you are With you my heart is safe and sound And if I go a step too far I’ll just fall back into your arms When the phone rings and the call’s for me You’ll pout and say I always leave But you love all I’ll ever be And you know that means the world to me And when all your plans are falling through Don’t you let it get to you Wherever I go Wherever you are With you my heart is safe and sound And if I go a step too far I’ll just fall back into your arms And when hello is overdue I’ll travel back to you Pushing back against the storm I won’t rest until I’m home Wherever I go Wherever you are With you my heart is safe and sound And if I go a step too far I’ll just fall back into your arms

Red & Dull 03:51
I tried to call a thousand times Left my goodbyes out on the line Before you leave you should know That I never wanted you to go When you needed me I was there For what came next no matter where I had to go To try and save you and I know Maybe it’s time to pretend I’m strong But we both know it’s not my fault You were slipping through my hands And I couldn’t keep you there Nothing makes sense at all Now that you’re gone The next morning’s sun was red and dull God above knows me all too well Sank to my knees And the tears I cried filled up the sea Maybe it’s time to pretend I’m strong But we both know it’s not my fault You were slipping through my hands And I couldn’t keep you there Nothing makes sense at all Now that you’re gone You’re gone You’re gone in heaven now You’re gone You’re slipping through my hands You’re gone Pretend I’m strong Let you go, let you go I won’t let you go You’re gone in heaven now Now I’m haunted by these hallowed halls Hate to know I let you down Every step that I take I feel I feel you on my heels
6.
Without You 04:35
Your eyes reflect your worried mind You’re anxious all the time The world’s a scary place, I know You watch me chase the fleeting lights Sleeping in a box all night That sits on 18 wheels And there I am Getting friendly with the edge And I’m scared But that’s all I’ve ever been I’m alive And that’s all I need Reaching for The song in me So tell your worried mind Don’t wait up tonight Cause I’ll be home real soon Cause I could never live without you Days, days they pass us by Like the broken yellow lines I call as if they’re friends I know The glass the window holds in place Sees your pretty face Match up dancing lights outside with memories And there we are Stretched across the miles Counting down the hours Till you aren’t just on my mind I’m alive And that’s all I need Reaching for The song in me So tell your worried mind Don’t wait up tonight Cause I’ll be home real soon Cause I could never live without you When letting go is easier Tell me that you won’t When I can’t catch the tears you cry While you’re all alone Tell me those 3 magic words That help me sleep the night Till every word finds its way back home to you I’m alive And that’s all I need Reaching for The song in me So tell your worried mind Don’t wait up tonight Cause I’ll be home real soon Cause I could never live without you

Dive In 03:39
My imagination paints my mind Hanging pictures up of you and me And I don’t want to cross your line But I’m as certain as I’ve ever seen And the moon is high outside All I want to do is take you home But every time that you walk by I forget every word I know Cause you’re charmin’, smilin’ Can’t get you out of my head Dive in, can’t wait Until I see you again And every time I look at you You’re busy lightin’ up the room And you drive me wild, you drive me wild Gotta make this count now I’m turning inside out now And I don’t wanna do Another day without you But every time I catch your eye My heart takes off in double time I choke on all my words I’m about to lose my mind Cause you’re charmin’, smilin’ Can’t get you out of my head Dive in, can’t wait Until I see you again And every time I look at you You’re busy lightin’ up the room And you drive me wild, you drive me wild And I know Finding you meant Following every broken road And I As much as I try Can’t get the words out my mouth So I go home alone Cause you’re charmin’, smilin’ Can’t get you out of my head Dive in, can’t wait Until I see you again And every time I look at you You’re busy lightin’ up the room And you drive me wild, you drive me wild

I was 19, still in school But left it all to say "I do" You were 24, chasing the open road But you said it too, you said it too 50 years and we’re still counting 50 years and we’re still running Feels just like it’s yesterday Seasons change, we stay the same Friends were made and parted ways But all along I still had you When life got tough, almost too much You had me too, you had me too 50 years and we’re still counting 50 years and we’re still running Feels just like it’s yesterday Seasons change, we stay the same We will never be apart Not till death do us part A promise that is 50 years old One that will last at least 50 more 50 years and we’re still counting 50 years and we’re still running Feels just like it’s yesterday Seasons change, we stay Seasons change, we stay Seasons change, we stay the same

She’s blending in and fading out Watching, waiting, trying to change her shape And though she has her many doubts The only thing she knows is how to trace Everything she’s ever loved Simply packed its bags and walked away And with every broken heart Came a promise not to feel that way again And she’s gone And I’ve moved on Well you can’t just do whatever Can’t change your mind like it’s the weather Everything that you went through Don’t forget I saw it to Yeah, I thought the storm was breaking I guess I was mistaken And I’m not gonna wait around I gotta leave this town I gave you days, I gave you nights And what we had wasn’t worth fighting for Well I’m happy to have seen the light Before I went and gave you anymore And she’s gone And I’ve moved on Well you can’t just do whatever Can’t change your mind like it’s the weather Everything that you went through Don’t forget I saw it to Yeah, I thought the storm was breaking I guess I was mistaken And I’m not gonna wait around I gotta leave this town You can’t hold me back You can’t make me stay You can’t make up for all of this So I’ll leave today Well you can’t just do whatever Can’t change your mind like it’s the weather Everything that you went through Don’t forget I saw it to Yeah, I thought the storm was breaking I guess I was mistaken And I’m not gonna wait around I gotta leave this town

I Don't Mind 03:19
Your footprints on the bedroom floor Lead followers right out the door Briefly catch a scent of you And see all the things I never knew I gave my very best you see To a person that you seemed to be But when I signed the dotted line I looked up to another’s eyes It’s been a year and I don’t mind The after thoughts you left behind It was never ever what you did you see But all the things you couldn’t do for me You said my love was just a chain And you found a man to help it break When you broke my heart that day I took that chain and walked away It’s been a year and I don’t mind The after thoughts you left behind It was never ever what you did you see But all the things you couldn’t do for me Someday you’ll see You’ll never find another me But I already know You were never one worth waiting for It’s been a year and I don’t mind The after thoughts you left behind It was never ever what you did you see Not the things you missed The other boys you kissed Who you turned out to be And how all you did was leave The thousand lies you gave to me It was all those things you couldn’t do for me
11.
The door’s my defense When push comes to shove I’d tell you to stay But your mind’s all made up Pan to the street You call a cab I try to reach you with reason But you just aren’t there There’s a reason I can’t meet your eyes I can’t see your soul through the fog of your lies I wish that I had more to say But I stopped loving you Yesterday You fought your way in Into my heart But then seasons changed And you tore it apart You tried to be brave And let me in But you wrote out the end Before you let it begin There’s a reason I can’t meet your eyes I can’t see your soul through the fog of your lies I wish that I had more to say But I stopped loving you Yesterday I can’t change you No one can Only you are stuck with you in the end I can’t save you You know I can’t And I’d die before I trust you again There’s a reason I can’t meet your eyes I can’t see your soul through the fog of your lies I wish that I had more to say But I stopped loving you Yesterday
12.
Over It 02:38
Getting home Safe and sound To no one else around Stay up late Till I’m tired So I forget your name Could give up Maybe so But my heart keeps telling me no You make me sick And I can’t get over it Played your games Passed the blame Called me other people’s names Stood me up Knocked me down Told me not to stick around Easier? Could be true But I’m still not over you You make me sick And I can’t get over it All the nights I waited for your call Wondering if you cared at all My friends began to think that I’d gone crazy I insisted that, oh I knew you Then remembered I knew the others too Before they went and changed their minds Then they were gone Met a new girl Through Jesus Hope it kills you when you see us We’re happy And exclusive The way its meant to be Hope you learned from Your mistakes And that you find love someday You made me sick And I’m finally over it

about

Imaginative lyrics. Vivid melodies. Refined hooks. Daniel McConeghy’s debut album “Wasting Time” blends these elements into a complete work of art. “Wasting Time” is the story of any dreamer, anyone who has been waiting, hoping, chasing, or fighting for what they believe in.

The 19-year-old McConeghy immediately sets the tone of the album as young and fresh, though his songwriting is matured beyond his years. The lead track, “Someday”, is a pop rock mantra for a time and place where dream meets reality. Two verses that anticipate what the future may bring cleverly lead into a chorus where Daniel exclaims, “Let’s run, run away / They don’t understand, give me your hand / Let’s leave today / Forget the world, we’ll be a boy and a girl in love.”

Love continues to arise as a common theme throughout the album. The ballad “Dancing On 17th” is the story of new love and an unassuming desire to keep the night alive. Daniel channels the excitement of new love through the passion of two people falling for each other.

Whether he’s wandering the confines of pop ornamentation via “Without You” and “Into Your Arms” or traveling the limits of the heart through gut-wrenching tracks like “Red & Dull” and “Yesterday”, Daniel knows how to write a stellar tune.

Daniel McConeghy has a promising career in music ahead of him if his freshman album is any indication of the success on the horizon. Daniel’s ability to pack emotion into everything he writes showcases his strength as an emerging songwriter. “Wasting Time” is a fully produced pop album about the transparent heart of a dreamer, and this dreamer is only getting started.
